Summary
In this class you will learn the fundamental AutoCAD® MEP training on how to design, model, and make construction documents of electrical distribution systems used in commercial buildings. You will cover how to design electrical lighting and power systems and how to turn them into quality construction documents using AutoCAD MEP. This course is designed for new users who want to implement an electrical system.
Who Should Attend
This class is designed for the new users of AutoCAD MEP focusing on the electrical discipline. Design professionals from large, medium, and small engineering firms will benefit from this course. Contractors can also benefit. It is recommended for commercial and institutional design and construction.
Objectives
The primary objective of this courseware is to teach students the basic functions necessary for using the electrical portion of AutoCAD MEP.
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Load base drawings, create a schematic diagram generate spaces, and add ceiling grids.
- Place electrical equipment, cable trays, conduits, fittings and risers.
- Adding panels and wiring.
- Manage circuits, check electrical connections, detect interferences, and use the AutoCAD MEP circuit analysis tools.
- Create sections, elevations and details, add labels and tags, and add and edit schedules.
- Create and manage plotting sheets, publish, transmit, and archive project drawings.

Prerequisites
It is required that the student have a working knowledge of:
- Microsoft® Windows® 2000, XP, or Vista.

Proficient
use of AutoCAD or AutoCAD Architecture on a version no more than 3 releases
back.
- AutoCAD Update training is recommended for those on an older AutoCAD release.
- AutoCAD Level 1 training is recommended for non-AutoCAD users.

AutoCAD
skills required, but not limited to:
- Drawing Lines, Arcs and Circles
- Snap and Ortho modes
- Polar and Object Snap tracking
- Dynamic Input and UCS
- Copy, Mirror, Align, Array and Trim commands
- Importing in Blocks
- Design or engineering experience is a plus.
