Summary
This intensive, accelerated hands-on course covers the many of the topics found of the four-day AutoCAD Level 1 class but at a faster pace and is intended for the student who has prior experience with AutoCAD and needs to refresh fundamental skills.
The objective of this Fundamentals class is to enable students to create a basic 2D drawing in AutoCAD. The class covers the indispensable core topics for working with AutoCAD. The teaching strategy is to start with a few basic tools that will let the student create and edit a simple drawing. We then continue to develop those tools, as well as introducing more advanced tools throughout the course. Not every command or option is covered, because the intent is to show the most essential tools and concepts.
The student progresses with more sophisticated techniques after understanding the basics. These will extend the user's mastery of the program. For example, here we go beyond the basic skill of inserting a block to learn how to create blocks, and beyond the basic skill of using a template to understand the process of setting up a template.
Who Should Attend
This class is ideal for the person who has past experience with AutoCAD but needs to gain or re-gain a solid foundation of the basics.
It is also an excellent class for those who had some AutoCAD experience in school or past job position. Other successful candidates are those who are actively using AutoCAD but have been self-taught and want to ensure they are working with the best workflow. Those using AutoCAD LT would also benefit from this class.
The class is appropriate for all disciplines - architects, engineers, designers, facilities planners, drafters, technicians, and others.
Objectives
Upon completion of the class, the student will be able to create a basic 2D drawing using drawing and editing tools, organize drawing entities into layers, add text and basic dimensions, and prepare to plot. Students will be able to incorporate and manage Plot and Layouts tools. We recommend practice after class in order to reinforce these new skills.
