Inventor 2012 - What’s New
By, Dan Banach
Spring is in the air (at least according to the calendar) and it is time for the new Autodesk products. Today March 22, Autodesk released their 2012 products. Below is a list of my top new additions in Inventor 2012.
- Mini-toolbar have been expanded for more commands
- Marking menus enhance the traditional right-click menus
- You can now sweep along edges without having to create a second sketch
- In part file you can create a Design View
- In part file you can dynamically section the part without having to create a sketch
- Drawing view creation now utilizes multiple processors. You can also create the views and while the hidden lines are being calculated you can continue to work
- Also in drawings after placing a base view you can change the views orientation and the view’s orthographic views will be updated
- BIM Exchange (AEC Exchange) now supports parameters - families in Revit will be created from Inventor iParts and iAssemblies
- For iLogic users you can now easily create forms using a simple dialog box
- Inventor Fusion is now integrated with Inventor and allows you to edit a base solid by moving, deleting or arraying the faces. You can also add points to edges and move the points to create curved faces.
In the middle of April MasterGraphics will be hosting a series of webcast that will highlight the new functionality while also showing the digital prototyping workflow. Stay tuned for more information about the webcasts.
