Inventor Publisher 2012 - What’s New
By, Dan Banach
Yesterday I reviewed my favorite new functionality in Inventor 2012; in this post I will list my favorive new additions in Inventor Publisher 2012. This is the 3rd release of Inventor Publisher that will help you create technical documentation from your 3D CAD models. In the Inventor Publisher 2012 release you will now be able to do the following:
- You now can set the size of the publisher area, ensuring what you see on the screen will be output
- Importing models is faster
- Import SolidWorks files
- Import JT files
- Within Publisher you can check to see if the Inventor assembly has been updated and then can choose to update the Publisher file
- Threads features that were created in Inventor will now be displayed as threads in Publisher
- You can now add dimensions to your snapshots, these dimensions can be aligned to a selected plane
- 2D AutoCAD blocks can be used in snapshots like you would a image file
- For the 2D AutoCAD blocks you can control their layer visibility
- Parts list can be resized, new rows can be added and you can display a thumbnail image of the component
- A new Microsoft Word add-in allows you to inserted selected snapshots and if the Publisher file changes you can update the images in Word with a single click
- 3D PDF has more controls to show the snapshots
In the middle of April MasterGraphics, will be hosting a series of webcast that will highlight the new functionality while also showing the digital prototyping workflow. Stay tuned for more information about the webcasts.
