3D Printing Application Engineer

M5D is seeking a motivated and technically driven Application Engineer to support our expanding portfolio of industrial additive manufacturing solutions. This role provides hands-on experience with advanced 3D printing technologies including HP FFF (IF 600 HT), HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF 1200 Series), SLS systems, and professional 3D scanning solutions.

Based out of our Branchburg, NJ office, this position combines technical problem-solving, customer engagement, equipment support, and application development. The ideal candidate is passionate about additive manufacturing and enjoys helping customers solve real-world engineering and production challenges.

Position Overview

The Application Engineer will work closely with customers, sales teams, and technology partners to deliver technical expertise throughout the sales and support process. This is a highly interactive, hands-on role with significant opportunities for growth within a rapidly evolving industry.

Approximately 40% of travel required
Comprehensive training provided through M5D and technology partners
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical application consulting to customers and M5D sales teams
Operate and maintain industrial 3D printing systems for demonstrations, prototyping, and production applications
Install, configure, and train customers on additive manufacturing equipment
Troubleshoot and service 3D printing systems both remotely and onsite
Deliver responsive phone and email-based technical support
Support technical relationships with manufacturing partners and vendors
Conduct live equipment demonstrations at M5D facilities, customer sites, and industry trade shows
Perform post-processing, packaging, and shipment of printed parts
Participate in the Sandler consultative process

Qualifications we are looking for

Required Skills & Experience

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build strong client relationships
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
CAD experience, preferably with solid modeling software
Experience servicing mechanical and/or electrical equipment
Effective project management and organizational skills
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to obtain access to Department of Defense (DoD) facilities
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
Experience with industrial additive manufacturing technologies such as FDM/FFF, MJF, or SLS
Experience working with 3D printing technologies
