MasterGraphics Inc. is seeking an ambitious Field Service Engineer who combines a strong background in electronics, 2D wide format printing, 3D printing and mechanical repair with a dedication to providing top-notch service to customers in Illinois and Wisconsin. Dedicated to the manufacturing, design and building industries, MasterGraphics has a core focus on providing 2D large format printing and 3D Print/Additive Manufacturing systems from prototyping to production. We represent industry leaders such as HP, 3DSystems, and AMT Solutions, among others. This Field Service Engineer will join our experienced, professional team of award-winning technicians and have a focus on supporting our install base of large format printers and plotters.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Majority of this position will work with complex 2D Wide Format printers (install, diagnose, repair & train customers).  Eventually some duties may transition to working with 3D printers.
  • Complete routine preventative maintenance
  • Maintain knowledge of new products and technical developments as well as required training and certifications
  • Coordinate service activities with dispatch, customers, sales, and management

This Field Service Engineer position will work remotely in Illinois or southern Wisconsin and will focus on clients throughout the Midwest.  Day travel and occasional overnight stays are required.

QUALIFICATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Education & Training
    • High school diploma required; AA degree from a technical school or related experience
  • Experience
    • 1-3 years related experience preferred
  • Skills & Abilities
    • Proficient in troubleshooting, configuration, installation, and repair of electronic systems and computers, as well as a solid mechanical aptitude
    • Windows experience mandatory
    • Solid knowledge of electro/mechanical device repair with attention to detail
    • Requires skills in organization, problem-solving, and customer relations
    • Ability to speak effectively before customers and act in an advisory capacity
    • Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in the business environment and a commitment to professionally represent MasterGraphics with its customers
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines with multiple interruptions
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Travel required: valid driver's license and clean driving record




  • Additional Skills
    • Ability to do the following on a frequent basis: climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, sit and talk.
    • Tasks can include using equipment, which requires working with electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, and plastic powders, which, if handled incorrectly, can cause health hazards/injuries.
    • Moderate physical activity is required by occasionally handling objects up to 50 pounds and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
    • Use of Calipers, Gauge blocks, and other precision measurement tools
    • Proficient with use and types of common hand tools and Multi-meters
    • Understanding of unique customer configuration - materials and software used 
    • Awareness of customer's expertise, capability, and willingness to do self-maintenance

NOTE:

Many of these qualifications can be learned on the job. We will provide training to those who do not have these skills yet but retain the aptitude and willingness to learn. Training will also take place with the manufacturers and vendors. We are looking for auto technicians, HVAC technicians, appliance technicians that may want to take the next step in their careers.
